Depending on the stain to dry underneath determines final curing of our coating. If stain is applied and not allowed to cure itself prior to application of any topcoat, the topcoat will remain tacky until each reaches equal dry out of the coating. Wet wood also plays a part in both curing, it too has to dry down to 8-10%. Heat, like the Sun pulls water out of wood- thru the stain and coating, hence longer dry out time as well. Just make sure the stain was water-based, not waterproof stain that was used. You should be fine, just takes time to cure. Thanks for asking!
Try Furniture-Seal
we used it to seal a pressure treated wood deck to protect pets contact with the chemicals in the wood, and also to slow the leaching of thechemicals from rain.
