If planted outdoors, do the frostproof gardenias survive winter in Washington DC / Maryland (zone 7a: 0°F to 5°F)? I have 10 of frostproof gardenias, in ground - in NOVA. About 20 mins out from DC, planted last spring. Getting the soil right has been the biggest challenge but they did survive their first winter. 7/10 success rate currently.
