Midwest Wabbitat Cage

Midwest Wabbitat Cage

Description

Give your new lop-eared family member a happy home with the MidWest Homes Wabbitat Steel Folding Rabbit Hutch Cage. This foldable rabbit cage is a perfect place for your new rabbit to get accustomed to their new habitat and learn to litter train. The frame is constructed from steel wire with space for stretching out and playing around, featuring a half-inch wire grid floor that keeps paws out of the litter and is safe for young hocks. The indoor small animal crate features wide doors on both the front and top, providing easy access to your bunny at all times and letting them come and go as they please. Keeping the area clean is easy: the drop-pan slides out for quick cleaning and the included urine-guards let you add splash protection in the rabbit's preferred bathroom corner. Ideal for new young rabbits and smaller breeds, this cage is a perfect indoor option for your fuzzy friend. (Note: older rabbits should be kept in flat-bottomed habitats and larger rabbits need a habitat with space to spread out)

Wabbitat is the perfect rabbit habitat. It’s durable, affordable, and it makes the best starter home for your furry family member. Wabbitat sets up easily in seconds with no tools or connecting pieces needed for assembly. It features unique slide-latches on the large top and front door openings for one-handed operation, allowing ease of use when interacting with your pet or taking him in or out of his home. The durable, slide-out ABS plastic pan with locking pan stop is also easy to install and remove for trouble-free cleaning and cage maintenance. MidWest researched the small animal category in great detail by inviting experts to educate our Research & Design team on the needs of small animals. We found that rabbits are bright, loving, and social animals that need interaction every day with humans or other rabbits. We also learned that rabbit enclosures must be easy to clean, which is vital to pet parents and their pets. Taking this information and adding our quality wire product knowledge resulted in the creation of a trusted line of excellent small-animal products. We ensure that our products are manufactured following strict quality assurance procedures, procedures that are conducted during each step in our manufacturing process and full-scale, random quality inspections during the year. Wabbitat carries a one-year limited warranty and support from Midwest’s award-winning customer service team.

FAQs:

Q: Can the bottom grate be removed? I've read that it hurts the rabbit's feet.

A: It can be removed. That said, we have multiple show rex rabbits and use these cages because the gauge of the wire on the floor, and the fact that it is coated makes it very easy on their feet. Rex are prone to sore hocks, and we have never once had a rabbit develop sore hocks in one of these cages. Actually, I had one buck outside in a pen on the grass and he developed sore hocks out there because the soil here is hard pan clay. They actually healed after I put him back in one of these cages and now he is much better.

Q: I have a 6lb bunny, would this cage be able to allow her to stretch out and be comfortable?

A: Even if your bunny can stretch out it will not be "comfortable." The wire floor will be rough on its feet and it won't have room to hop around significantly. Considering getting an exercise pen (30 or 36 inches should be plenty) in place of a cage. This will also make it easier to litter box train your rabbit (I use a large cat litter box, line it with newspaper and put hay on top of it). And still be sure to let your bunny out for exercise!

Q: Would this cage work for a ferret if I took the metal grate out of the bottom?

A: Depending on how small the ferret is. If it's an average-sized ferret then yes, it should work. I have had baby rabbits in it and not have a problem, so a ferret should do fine.

Q: Is there a way of ordering an extra piece of urine guard? 1 is not enough. Thanks

A: The urine guards are sold separately. They are available through Amazon.
