"Our use of pesticides is highly regulated by both the state and federal government. Our integrated pest management program includes the use of the environment to minimize pests (things like managing temperature and moisture), mechanical means (like copper fencing to keep out snails), organic controls (things like water and soap), as well as chemical pesticides. We always choose the method that will provide the results we need with the least environmental impact. When we use a chemical pesticide it is always in accordance with the label and the regulations. All pesticides have a re-entry period where no one is allowed into the treated area. We always try to use chemicals which have the shortest re-entry periods as they are the safest. There are no chemicals that we use that are designed to last throughout the life of the plant. Most are contact sprays which have limited duration and are easily washed off. "
